If all life is intrinsically valuable, many “valuecreating” economic activities should be “trumped” to prevent irreversible species loss and ecosystem degradation. In a democracy, every citizen’s vote should carry approximately equal weight in the political process, which defines community needs and develops processes for meeting those needs.
